THE AMANA GENERAL STORE - THEN AND NOW

 

The sandstone and frame building of the Amana General Store was erected in 1858 as a first floor General Store and second floor residence.  In 1890 the brick addition was erected.  The Amana Society Main Office (Corporate Headquarters) was located in the frame portion of the building from 1932 to 1973. It remains a prominent historic landmark in the village of Amana.  Today you will also find two additional businesses located within The Amana General Store. In the lower level is the Amana Coffee & Tea. In the northeast corner of the building you will find The Christmas Room.
